It is my mission to connect you with the resources you need, so that making changes to your diet & lifestyle will be simple and hassle free!
I am totally a book person. If you're one too, then you know what I mean. They offer comfort, knowledge, inspiration, nitty-gritty details, support, and..... Anyway, here are some of my favorite health, wellness, & lifestyle books.
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause - by Izabella Wentz
Hashimoto's Protocol: A 90-Day Plan for Reversing Thyroid Symptoms and Getting Your Life Back - by Izabella Wentz
These two books are absolutely must haves if you are dealing with thyroid issues. Izabella Wentz writes in a way that is accessible to the average person, yet includes plenty of the nitty-gritty details and science to back up what she is saying. Best of all, she writes with compassion, because she has been on her own journey through the exhaustion, brain fog, and "Am I going Crazy?" feelings that can go along with thyroid disease.
Mind Over Medicine - by Lissa Rankin
Lissa Rankin wrote this book with skeptics in mind - because she used to be one. After a journey that led her deep into the scientific literature, she became a firm believer in the power that each and every one of us holds in our minds to switch on our body's innate healing responses. Her exercises in the back of the book, where you will learn to write your own"prescription for healing" make it worth every penny.
These are some of my absolute favorite cook books. When you are trying to make lasting dietary changes, the value of a few fun, nutritionally sound cook books can't be overestimated. Thankfully, there is a growing movement of chefs and foodies who realize that delicious rhymes with nutritious!
Crazy Sexy Kitchen - by Kris Carr
A beautiful cookbook of vegan recipes to help you add more plant based foods to your routine. The recipes range from fast & easy to positively gourmet. Kris Karr's sassy, spunky attitude shines through and makes cooking fun and approachable.
Cooking for Hormone Health - by Magdelena Wszelaki
If you're a woman, you NEED this book. Magdelena Wszelaki brings together a wealth of well researched information on hormone imbalances, what causes them, and how to address them naturally through food and lifestyle. She includes meal plans for specific situations and imbalances, walking you through an elimination diet as the first step. But no worries! Her recipes, which comprise the second half of the book, are absolutely delicious, and will most definitely leave you feeling satisfied. No deprivation here!
I Quit Sugar - by Sarah Wilson
You CAN (and probably should) give up sugar. But have no fear. You can get off refined sugars and still enjoy a sweet life. Sarah Wilson clearly explains the dangers of sugar, especially fructose, and how it damages our bodies. Happily, she also lays out a plan for getting over your sugar addiction, and provides an amazing array of recipes, including desserts, that celebrate the joys of real food. Her Aussie hipster personality is a bonus, making cooking healthy a totally refreshing experience. Check out her other cookbooks as well. They're some of my new go-to books for family & guy friendly meals!
